Dimensionism: Modern Art in the Age of Einstein

Inspired by the 1936 “Dimensionist Manifesto,” which called upon artists to examine new physical and philosophical realities of their era, this exhibition features around 70 works that explore how modern art was influenced by advances in science such as Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity and new, more powerful microscopic lenses. Brazilian Modern: The Living Art of Roberto Burle Marx Exhibit
New York Botanical Garden, 2900 Southern Blvd., New York
Brazillian painter, landscape architect, and plant enthusiast Roberto Burle Marx’s lush designs spring to life during this garden-wide celebration featuring gardens brimming with plants native to Brazil, his signature curved and patterned walkways, and many of his paintings, drawings, and textiles inspired by his culture. Casa Perfect, Los Angeles
New York-based designer Chris Wolston conjures his time in Colombia, where he traveled after receiving a Fulbright grant, through an expansion to his Lost In Paradise collection, on view at design gallery The Future Perfect’s roving, residential-themed Los Angeles initiative, Casa Perfect. Expect Wolston’s candy-colored tables, mirrors, chairs, and lamps, all employing a “wild Tropicana” approach. All of it is housed in a Beverly Hills estate that once belonged to Elvis Presley.
