There have been countless events and celebrations honoring Bauhaus’ centenary this year—the storied art school began in Weimar, Germany, in 1919—but this might be the first of the wearable variety. This past Friday London-based fashion brand COS launched Archive Editions, Inspired by Bauhaus. The thirteen-piece capsule collection for men and women features pieces plucked from COS’s more than a decade-old archives that reflect Bauhaus’ core design ethos.
Womenswear styles include an A-line wool skirt and a flowing, sleeveless asymmetrical wool dress, while menswear offers items such as crisp collared white shirt and a slim collarless wool coat. The silhouettes take on a minimal, geometric aesthetic with darting and pleating details that highlight the architectural influences. The overall monochromatic palette of grays and whites evokes the original Bauhaus building. Here’s to wearing your Bauhaus love on your sleeve.
