Portland’s inaugural Textile Month begins Monday, Oct. 1, and features a slew of free and ticketed textile-, pattern- and color-related talks and events around the city to explore. Stockpiler, a pop-up gallery and community connector founded by interiors photographer and weaver Christopher Dibble and artist Mariel Pitti, presents one event during the design-focused month: Contemporary Threads, Oct. 25-27, hosted at downtown Portland rug shop Kat + Maouche. Expect textile demonstrations, an opening night party on Thursday, Oct. 25, and a marketplace of local and regional textile artists showcasing their handcrafted goods for sale, including macrame artist Emily Katz [http://emilykatz.com/], visual artist LeBrie Rich, designer Katherine Entis, visual artist Natalie Novak, artist Gloria Freshley, textile designer Tricia Langman, feltmaker and textile designer Patty Benson, and weaver Sarah Wertzberger.
