Seattle Deconstructed Art Fair This year, more than 40 Seattle art galleries, non-profit organizations, and art institutions have convened to create a community-led effort that serves as an alternative to the cancelled Seattle Art Fair. Throughout the month of August, by appointment or online, peruse works from a variety of artists at participating galleries such as Greg Kucera Gallery, Hall/Spassov Gallery, Martyr Sauce, Winston Wächter, Roq La Rue, and Zinc Contemporary. (Throughout August; times vary, free)

Designscape The three-day digital program for the retail, hospitality, and residential design industries looks beyond trends and delves deeper into the behavioral changes and influences that will affect the future of design. Expect virtual discussions and symposiums, speed networking, and educational panels. (August 11–13; times vary, free)

Design Week Portland The 2020 edition of this popular five-day festival is completely virtual. Expect engaging panel discussions on subjects such as designing for emotional security, creating a sustainable world, and employing more equity-focused design practices, as well as hands-on workshops that will teach you the basics of techniques such as brush lettering. On August 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., learn more about the ethical considerations behind media such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and other immersive technology as a group of academics and industry leaders in the field discuss Ethical Design in Immersive Media. (Through August 7; times and prices vary)
