At GRAY, we have a simple mission: to support the design community and use our platform to shed light on the incredible work being presented throughout the industry. As part of this endeavor, we make every effort to listen and learn from those within the community.
We are thrilled to be launching our first Destination Design Conference in Victoria, B.C., in just a few weeks! An annual design conference taking place in a new city each year has been on GRAY’s wish list since its founding more than 12 years ago. This being said, we recognize how much the economy and industry have changed over those 12 years. Recently, we have received valuable feedback regarding the financial accessibility of design events of this nature, and have taken to heart how we may be able to make a difference.
After careful evaluation, we have decided to make necessary alterations to the conference offerings in order to offer a reduced ticket price. Destination DesignCon will now span two days (instead of three), May 10th and 11th, and will include:
A luxurious sunset cocktail party at the Victoria International Marina officially opens DesignCon 2023. The event, overlooking Victoria's inner harbour, is a showcase of the city, featuring an open bar concept across several signature cocktail bars and design installations by renowned Victoria designers, music, hors d'oeuvres, and a caviar tasting experience.
A jam-packed half day of talks by 15 visionaries and leading designers on topics ranging from urban planning, architecture, and interiors, centered on the future of design and the built environment, followed by a self-guided exploration of the city and offsite events in partnership with Design Victoria.
An unforgettable after party celebrating a vibrant design community. Held at Thomas and Birch, the party will both mark the close of DesignCon, and serve as the opening party for Design Victoria. It will include an open bar, light appetizers, music, and showcase designer bars and stunning installations created by regional designers.
